A benchmark event in Brigg - indicating that Spring is just around the corner - is the use of large cranes at Glanford Boat Club, on Island Carr, to lift members' pleasure craft back into the Old River Ancholme for the forthcoming season.
This is not an ordinary year, of course, and the lifting operations originally planned for March 27 have been put back until after April 12 (exact dates to be confirmed).
This applies to the New and Old sections of the river which meet at The Point, very close to the boat club's headquarters.
Our pictures give a reminder of previous Spring 'lift-ins' at this club which was established in the 1930s. People often go down to watch the cranes in action from the opposite bank.
Members' boats will be lifted out of the water, by crane, in this autumn.
