BRIGG TOWN'S LEAGUE RULES ON PROPOSED POST-LOCKDOWN CUP COMPETITION

Brigg Town Football Club's first teamers will NOT have a late season cup competition to take part in.
With all remaining fixtures in the Northern Counties East League cancelled (subject to pending Football Association ratification) because of the continuing Coronavirus emergency lockdown, the league considered organising a tournament for member clubs.
However, at a recent meeting this idea was discounted by the league's management committee which believes "it is not feasible at the moment due to no spectators being allowed in until at least May 17th, 2021, with no income from clubhouses and snack bars, etc."
Noting that some clubs are now considering organising games between themselves, the league points out that these fixtures will require prior approval from the competition and the FA.
However, the league adds that member clubs will be free to play friendlies after March 29, behind closed doors, should they wish to do so, and can resume training from this date. Read the full NCEL statement here...
If, as expected, the FA ratifies the cancellation of all remaining 2020/21 Northern Counties East fixtures, Brigg Town will finish sixth in Division One - the position occupied when matches were halted weeks ago due to the latest lockdown. The Zebras had played only 11 of their 38 scheduled games when the programmes was suspended.
