BRIGG FLOOD DEFENCE PROJECT UPDATE

An extensive flood defence project carried out in Brigg since last autumn appears to have been completed.
Brigg Blog is still awaiting confirmation from the Environment Agency which has been contacted for comment.
A bank of the Old River Ancholme has been strengthened between Cadney Road railway bridge and the southern end of Manley Gardens.
Heavy machinery was housed in a temporary compound off Mill Lane, several hundred yards away, while this project was undertaken.
Investment in flood defences in Brigg is always welcome as land near the Ancholme is only a few metres above sea level which can result in alerts or warnings from the agency following periods of heavy rain at certain times of the year.
These pictures were taken on Monday afternoon (March 1). Our vantage point for the view at the top was the Candley Beck bridge at the southern end of Elwes Street.
