PLANS TO REMOVE BRIGG ATM CASHPOINT

Another indicator or reminder that a bank branch is soon to close in Brigg has come with a formal request to remove its cash dispenser within the conservation area.
Barclays gave notice in October that it would be closing its Brigg branch for good at noon on January 21, 2022. View full details here...
North Lincolnshire Council has now received an application for listed building consent to remove the ATM and surround from the front of 9 Market Place and replace them with a sliding sash window.
Approval is also being sought for the removal of existing external signage and to make repairs to underlying brickwork.
North Lincolnshire Council has given this application a January 10 'valid date' and the public consultation period will end on February 10. A decision will follow at a future date.
Reasons given by Barclays for its Brigg branch closure include: "The number of counter transactions has gone down in the two years to March 2020, and additionally 83% of our branch customers also use other ways to do their banking such as online and by telephone."
We photographed the cashpoint at the beginning of this month when it was displaying a 'Bank Digital' message.
