BRIGG BANK BRANCH ABOUT TO CLOSE FOR EVER: WHO WILL BE ITS FINAL CUSTOMER?

It will the end of an era in Brigg tomorrow when a town centre facility that has been available for decades closes its doors to the public for the final time.
The Barclays bank branch in the Market Place will shut for good at noon on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Who will be the final customer?
The company reports falling demand for traditional counter services and points to an increasing use of online banking.
In recent years there has also been a UK surge in payments by contactless and debit cards, instead of tendering cash for goods and services in eateries and shops.
Barclays is telling Brigg customers: "You can bank 24 hours a day with the Barclays app or Online Banking, over the phone or at any Post Office or Cash Machine."

Barclays is now seeking planning permission and listed building consent from North Lincolnshire Council to remove its Market Place ATM and install a sliding sash window. The building is within the conservation area.
HSBC and NatWest both having closed their Brigg branches and removed the cashpoint machines in recent years, after Barclays follows suit the town will have only one remaining 'High Street' bank - Lloyds, on Wrawby Street.
Lloyds no longer offers a counter service but has an external ATM and two others inside the premises. Another machine processes cheques.
Helpful staff are also on hand during opening hours to offer advice to those using the machines and also deal with inquiries.
