Indoor and outdoor table tennis is proving popular in Brigg at various times of the year, and a new club is now welcoming local people who wish to play this sport.
Brigg Town Council has provided a table on the Davy Memorial Playing Field, near Bigby Road for those who enjoy their friendly matches al fresco when the weather is suitable.
Meanwhile, the new Brigg Table Tennis Club has moved to Sir John Nelthorpe School's Wrawby Road site (pictured above).
The club meets on Thursdays, from 5pm to 7pm, and it's a reasonably priced £2 for a two-hour session.
Helen Cresswell informs us that this venue offers a large space, with up to seven tables. It has improved car parking and access arrangements.
Equipment is available and table tennis players of all standards are welcome.
Brigg Blog can remember when Brigg Sugar Factory had table tennis teams using the pavilion and adjoining social club off Scawby Road. It played in the Scunthorpe & District League.
A quick scan of our archive reminds us that, in 1986, there were also teams from Scawby and Bigby in this Scunthorpe competition which then had four divisions.
