TREE-MENDOUS START TO THE NEW YEAR IN BRIGG TOWN CENTRE

Trees are currently topical, and in one respect almost tropical, in Brigg town centre.
The weather was positively palmy for those who visited licensed premises on New Year's Day (Saturday, January 1).
In the Black Bull's Wrawby Street beer garden at 10.45pm, the temperature was a very mild 13C (55F), way above average for the time of year.
This hostelry has palm trees near colourful Spanish-style cabanas (enclosed wooden shelters).
The above picture was taken on Saturday night.

A closing service is due to be held at 4pm today (Monday, January 3) beside The Tree of Light, located near the Wrawby Street entrance to St John's Church. The tree, carrying messages in memory of local people, has been in place since December 1.

Elsewhere in the town centre, the digital display screens facing the Angel building's rear car park are functioning again, having been removed some time ago for repairs. These screens display details of local council services and places to visit in North Lincolnshire.
Another year has started with the Angel building's sculpture still not restored to its lofty position overlooking the Market Place, having sustained damage during high winds in August 2019.
