COUNCIL ABOUT TO RULE ON PLANS FOR NEW HOMES IN BRIGG

Plans to create new housing in Brigg are about to be decided by North Lincolnshire Council.
Outline planning permission is being sought to erect up to nine dwellings on "land at Westrum Lane." The application was submitted in December 2020.
A ruling will be made by the council's Planning Committee, made up of elected representatives from across the district, when it meets on Wednesday, January 12.
The application has been placed before the committee for a ruling because of "significant public interest."
A number of 'letters of objection' have been received by the local authority.
A detailed report prepared prior to the meeting by planning staff for councillors to consider is recommending that permission should be granted.
This report says: "The application site comprises a linear parcel of agricultural land to the south of a row of existing dwellings fronting Westrum Lane, Brigg. The site measures 0.49 ha (hectares) in area and benefits from an existing 4–5m tall hedgerow along the frontage with Westrum Lane."
Options open to the committee include approving or refusing the application or visiting the site before making a decision at a later date.
This meeting will be held from 2pm on January 12 at Church Square House, High Street, Scunthorpe, and is open to interested members of the public.
The Westrum Lane application is the only one on the agenda from the Brigg & Wolds Ward.
There are many others listed for consideration, including some from Scunthorpe and the Isle of Axholme.
The committee is chaired by Coun Nigel Sherwood (Brigg & Wolds).
