UPDATE ON THE NEW ALDI STORE COMING TO BRIGG

The new Aldi store in Brigg has moved a step closer with the granting of additional permission required for the development.
Having earlier passed detailed plans for the store, North Lincolnshire Council has now approved signs to be erected on and near the unit off the A18 on Bridge Street.
Preparatory work has been under way on the site for many weeks, but the all-important date when the store will be opening for business has still to be announced.
Brigg Blog checked this out very recently with Aldi and has requested that the renowned discount retailer lets us know the date that many shoppers living in the town and nearby communities will be very keen to pencil into their diaries/online planners and mobiles.
As soon as we learn the date we'll be sure to let our site followers know.
Our picture - from Aldi - shows how the new Brigg store is going to look.
North Lincolnshire Council recently gave advertisement consent to Aldi Foodstores Ltd for one free standing double-sided sign and three illuminated building fascia signs.
The location is described as the former Riverside Motors site, off Bridge Street.
A North Lincolnshire Council planning report concluded: "None of these signs are considered to result in a  trident or alien feature within the street scene and they will not result in loss of residential amenity as a result of their position, set back from the highway  frontage."
Necessary approval was therefore granted for all the proposed signs.
Brigg Town Council was consulted as part of the planning process and the application was discussed by the Planning & Environment Committee during a meeting held in the Angel Suite.
The town authority said it had no objections, as long as the free-standing sign does not impede pedestrian or vehicular visibility near the entrance to the site.
The new store site will be landscaped and include many car parking spaces for customers.
