BRIGG SCHOOL SPORTS REUNIONS FOR WOMEN PUT ON HOLD
Long-established Brigg school sporting reunions for women have been put on hold - for the time being.
Hockey, netball and rounders matches have been played over many decades between ex-pupils of Sir John Nelthorpe and sides representing the school.
However, team-raising has become an issue, culminating in the decision to take a break.
Hopefully, this won't prove to be a lengthy suspension.
Please note that the men's reunion matches - cricket in July and football in late December - will continue in 2020. Various golfing get-togethers will also proceed along normal lines.
Last summer's cricket match and the recent football game played at Brigg Town FC were both well supported by 'old boys'. And the footballers raised £500 for charity.
These events are included in the social programme of the Briggensians' Association, which represents former pupils and staff from SJN, Brigg Sixth Form, Brigg Girls' High School and Brigg Grammar (pre-1976).
There aren't many of us still taking part in the sports reunions from the latter!
Brigg Blog will keep people posted about the various 2020 events once details are confirmed.
The Briggensians' showpiece annual dinner is coming up in March. View details here...
Our archive picture here shows the former Brigg Grammar School boarding house on the edge of the school field where many reunion matches have been held over the years. The Victorian boarding house was converted for classroom during the SJN era.
