BRIGG TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB ATTRACTS BIGGEST CROWD OF THE DAY

 

It proved to be a mixed day for Brigg & district football teams yesterday (Saturday, January 18) as Brigg Town FC attracted the biggest crowd of the day in their division.
However, they went down to a 5-1 defeat when hosting fourth-placed Selby Town in ToolStation Northern Counties East Division One at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns).
Brigg's consolation goal was a late penalty from Reece Moody.
The attendance was 152, including some visiting fans, and this was the highest of the day in this section of the competition. 
The next best was 117 while the other six games all failed to attract three-figure crowds.
The Zebras are in 15th spot in a division comprising 20 teams.
Brigg Town Reserves lost 5-3 at Immingham Town in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Premier. On the mark for Brigg were Ben Lingard (penalty), Paul Ashton and Tom Wilson.
In the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League, second-placed Barnetby United's game at College Wanderers was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
In Division Two, goals from James Alderson and Scott Soulby gave mid-table Briggensians a welcome 2-0 win over Epworth Town Colts Development at Brigg Recreation Ground.

RESERVES'  LATE PUSH SALVAGES A POINT

Barnetby and Crosby Reserves shared the spoils and six goals in an entertaining game at Silver Street.
Martin Lestak cancelled out Crosby's opener in an end-to-end first half to send the sides in 1-1 at the interval.
It was Crosby who looked the better team in the second half and they duly took the lead after Barnetby failed to clear their lines.
They then looked to have put the game to bed when a penalty was converted with 15 minutes left.
However, Barnetby kept pushing and Martin Lestak fired home his second of the game, with three minutes left, to reduce the areas.
A corner on the stroke of full-time saw Rob O’Bob O'Shea power home a header as Barnetby rescued a point.
