BRIGG TOWN CRICKET CLUB HAS A NEW CAPTAIN AT THE HELM
Brigg Town Cricket Club will have a new captain at the helm when the Lincolnshire County Cricket League 2020 season begins in the spring.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Mark Dawson - widely known as Dilly - will be skippering the club in Division Three.
His vice-captain will be batsman Danny Bradley, while Mark Cawkwell continues in his role as club chairman.
Home games will again be played at Brigg Recreation Ground, off Wrawby Road.
In addition to the divisional fixtures, Town will also be taking part in the popular Supplementary Cup, which has four mini-leagues whose winners then meet in the semi-finals in June, with the final to be played at Messingham on July 12.
In Group A, Brigg will play Caistor Town away on May 16, Barton Town 2nds at home on May 23 and then host East Halton on May 30 (all Saturdays).
Divisional matches are 45 overs a side, but only 30 overs are played in the Supplementary competition.
Brigg's opening Division Three fixture will be at The Rec against Nettleham 2nds on Saturday, May 2 (1.30pm start). Please note amended date.
Spectators are welcome at all home matches, which Brigg Blog again intends to preview week by week during the season until its conclusion on September 12.
The current Town cricket club played its first campaign in 1974 in the Grimsby & District Saturday League, joining the Lincolnshire competition two years later.
Our pictures show Mark Dawson in cricketing gear, supporting Brigg Beer Festival and Brigg Cider Festival, and in his football goalkeeping kit at the Recreation Ground prior to a friendly fixture.
