LATEST NEWS ABOUT BRIGG & DISTRICT BUS SERVICES

Following our post about the recent withdrawal of Dent's Brigg to Lincoln direct buses, we've been sent the timetable for Stagecoach's replacement service that is now serving the southerly part of this route.
Supported by Lincolnshire Council Council and running every Wednesday rather than Friday, it starts from the Marquis of Granby pub in Waddingham at 9.30am and picks up passengers in Snitterby, Bishop Norton, Glentham, Normanby and Owmby by Spital, Spridlington and Hackthorn before arriving at Lincoln's Central Bus Station at 10.30am.
Return journeys leave the county capital at 1.30pm.

North Lincolnshire Council and the Lincolnshire authority used to subsidise Dent's Brigg-Lincoln Friday service, which ceased at the end of December 2019 - a decision taken by the operator on economic grounds, and with regret.
These Friday buses also picked up in Scawby Brook, Scawby, Hibaldstow and Redbourne before heading south and crossing the county border into Lincolnshire.
The Brigg Blog follower who kindly sent us a link to the new Stagecoach service timetable, rightly states: "Only much use if you can get to Waddingham and back, though..."
A possible solution for people living in Brigg and district is to try and book the CallConnect dial-a-ride service to get you to Waddingham for 9.30am, and then pick you up again from the village in the afternoon.

For bookings, call 0345 234 3344 or visit www.lincscallconnect.com
A recently introduced change to the route of Hornsbys No 4 service between Brigg, Broughton and Scunthorpe has not resulted in much added time on return journeys, Brigg Blog has observed over several weeks.
No 4 buses are now routed through Bottesford, but the 3.50pm and 4.50pm back to Broughton and Brigg from Lakeside Retail Park, Ashby (near Morrisons) is only taking three of four minutes longer to arrive than it did before the Bottesford detour was added.
Hornsbys X4 express service between Brigg and Scunthorpe - not going via Broughton, Bottesford and Ashby town centre -  is unaffected.
Operating local public transport for well over 100 years, Ashby-based Hornsbys has now produced a helpful printed booklet outlining all its current services and timetables for 2020.
Copies can be obtained from the drivers of buses calling at Cary Lane, Brigg - or try Tourist Information at the Buttercross. Alternatively, view all the information online at www.hornsbys.net
Some of the Brigg-Scunthorpe buses run via Scawby Brook and Scawby, and Brigg Blog continues to be surprised by the low number of passengers picked up in the hamlet and the village after this detour off the A18 for their benefit. Sometimes, we've observed, no-one gets on, which seems a shame.
Brigg is very well served by Hornsbys, with a half-hourly service to Ashby and Scunthorpe, Monday to Saturday, for most of the day.
Do YOU support local buses? Six quid return to Scunthorpe town centre is good value, and a return trip to Lakeside, Ashby, leaves you with change from a fiver!
