NOSTALGIC RETURN TO BRIGG TINTAB FOR ENID WHOSE GRANDFATHER DONATED SHELTER

A former Brigg resident, who is in her nineties, made a nostalgic return to the town and is seen here in a very interesting 'Then & Now' picture montage.
Enid Gillard visited from her home in Nottinghamshire to see some friends, but primarily to view the refurbished Tintab seating shelter on East Park, near the Monument roundabout.
It was bequeathed to the town in the 1930s by her Grandfather, David Andrew.
She was delighted with the refurb and particularly pleased to see the blue plaques put up in the shelter by Brigg Town Council to commemorate her Grandfather's work.
In the montage above we see Enid as a young girl with her Grandfather, and next to the plaques during her return visit.
She is ex-Elwood's ironmongers, and many Brigg Blog followers will remember this family business being in the town centre over many years.

Generous benefactor David Andrew used to own a popular fishing pond in the town.
He served as a police officer in Sheffield, became a member of Brigg Urban District Council and was a guardian of the Brigg Union Workhouse (since demolished) which was sited on the other side of the main road from East Park.
