NEW £1.25m STORE IN THE BRIGG AREA ABOUT TO WELCOME ITS FIRST CUSTOMERS

Our area's newest store will be opening tomorrow (Thursday) creating welcome new jobs and also offering a collection point for Brigg Foodbank donations.
The Lincolnshire Co-op - based in Lincoln - has built the food store on Victoria Road, Barnetby, using land once occupied by a well-known scaffolding company.
The purpose-built store is located near the railway line and its underpass bridge, and is close to the now disused Barnetby East signalbox (a Barnetby landmark).
Many villagers will be popping into the store for a look from Thursday, and the outlet will gain custom from passengers using the nearby station, as well as the railway enthusiasts who visit to watch, video and photograph passing trains which include biomass for Drax power station and iron ore for Scunthorpe steelworks.
The usual conveniences will be in-store, which will be useful for rail-related customers when the closer

FROM THE LINCOLNSHIRE CO-OP

On Thursday 25th August, a new £1.5m Lincolnshire Co-op Food Store in Barnetby will open its doors for the first time, bringing 15 new jobs to the local area.
The convenience store will offer a wide range of goods, including fruit and veg, food-to-go options, chilled beers and wines, freshly baked bread, pastries and sweet treats, plus all your other daily essentials.
Alongside this, there will also be products from Lincolnshire Co-op’s Love Local range, which includes fish from Alfred Enderby and beverages from Docks Beers. Both suppliers are based in the nearby town of Grimsby.
The store, which will be open from 7am until 10pm seven days a week, is located on Victoria Road, and will feature a car park with 18 customer spaces.
Lincolnshire Co-op is an independent co-operative, operating in Lincolnshire and the surrounding counties. The society’s existing services in the nearby area include food stores in Scawby, Caistor and Keelby.
As well as providing valued services, the society is committed to making lives better in our communities, and one of the ways that it does this is through its Community Champions scheme.
The scheme sees a donation made to a good cause every time a member shops with their Lincolnshire Co-op dividend card. Until 3rd December, shoppers at the outlet will be fundraising for Scunthorpe Samaritans. There will also be a collection point in the store for donations to Brigg Foodbank.
Member Engagement Manager Rik Greig said: “We’re excited to offer a new service in the local area and look forward to expanding our community of members further.
“There will be lots of exciting benefits available to members – including free fruit in school holidays for our junior members, discounts from local businesses and attractions, and the ability to collect dividend and support local groups as you shop.”
