NEW HOUSING PLANNED NEAR BRIGG TOWN CENTRE

New housing is planned on a site in Brigg where old residential properties, which stood for decades, were demolished not long after the Second World War.
Approval is now being sought from North Lincolnshire Council to build a pair of semi-detached homes on Manley Gardens, within sight of Bridge Street and close to the town centre.
The original properties were demolished in the late 1940s, with the land subsequently being concreted over and used for car parking.
The site is located behind the former chapel (grade two listed) which stands on the corner of Bridge Street and Manley Gardens.
This was latterly used by a well-known local carpet & flooring company until it relocated to new premises.
North Lincolnshire Council is now considering the housing application for what's described as "the concrete area off Manley Gardens." (The ex-chapel does NOT form part of the scheme).
Brigg Town Council will be consulted as part of the planning process.
"Associated parking" is included in the housing scheme.
Brigg being a very popular place to live, there is high local demand for residential accommodation, particularly within easy reach of the town centre.

This building changed hands a few months ago. The back of the China Garden restaurant is evident on the right of the picture above.
