SPECIAL REMEMBRANCE EVENT FOR BRIGG

Brigg will be commemorating Remembrance Day in a special way this year.
In addition to the usual poignant events and reflections, a production called Songs of Love & War is planned for November which will involve local singers.
Folk ‘Round ‘Ere (FRE) tells Brigg Blog that tickets (and further information) will become available in September.
The songs will focus on the impact of war on the lives of ordinary people, including families left behind when soldiers went off to fight.
FRE has been working with staff and students of Brigg's Sir John Nelthorpe School to design the poster and incorporate some of the research undertaken into local men who died in both world wars.
Directors Julia Pollock and Bob Cuthbertson are currently working with Brigg Live Arts and a cast of about 25 singers and musicians.
The production is expected to sell out.
FRE is re-launching a project it started before the March 2020 Covid-related lockdown.
"Originally intended for the 75th anniversary of VE Day, this project now has a new focus," it explains.
"On the 11th of November 2021 we lost our founder Roberta Fulford, and with her partner’s permission we plan to commemorate her contribution to the arts and heritage of Brigg by dedicating our next production to her memory."
