INTERESTING FEEDBACK ON A-Z OF BRIGG TOWN CENTRE EATERIES & TAKEAWAYS THEN & NOW

Our recent A-Z of Brigg town centre eateries and takeaways (Then & Now) proved popular, with more than 700 page views so far, and more being received day by day.

We explained in the text that our feature related to the town centre - defined for this purpose as Wrawby Street, Bigby Street, the Market Place and adjoining courts.
We outlined some former uses of TODAY'S food-related premises, going back to Victorian times in a few cases.
Some comments on social media have suggested we might have included ALL current food-related business premises in the town, particularly Bridge Street. There are others we didn't mention on Glebe Road and Grammar School Road.
Another comment said (Coun Vic) Gray's Cafe deserved a mention. However, No 7 Market Place, where it used to be located, is currently used as offices and not by a food-related business. So this was beyond our remit.
Many decades have passed since the last snacks and breakfasts were served to customers on the ground floor of No 7.
Judging from comments received in response to our feature, K's Corner Cafe, on the corner of Wrawby Street and Queen Street, is still remembered with nostalgic affection, including the jukebox playing hits of the 1960s and 1970s.
Today the China Garden takeaway operates from these premises.
Many people appreciated our reference to fish & chips having been served at the same 'plaice' in Coney Court since the 1930s.
Early in the Second World War, the local Neall family acquired the outlet from Hounslow's, local historian Josie Webb informed us.
It's now The Hungry Fisherman (under different ownership) with an eat-in restaurant and a takeaway 'chippy' service.
Brigg Blog thanks everyone for their welcome FEEDBACK.
This was appreciated, and the feature clearly brought back happy memories for many people, some of whom no longer live in the town.
Perhaps A-Zs on other Brigg topics might go down well in the future.
Suggestions please on a postcard, or by more modern methods!
