PLAN TO GROW FLORAL DISPLAYS IN BRIGG HOLDS WATER

Twelve additional "three-tier" planters to display colourful flowers will be installed in Brigg. The Town Council will be seeking "external sources" of funding.
These tall planters are designed to retain water in their bases to assist plant growth.
Smaller tubs, of a different design, have given good service over many years but do not retain moisture to the same degree, which can cause difficulties during spells of hot weather.
It is possible that some, or all, of the smaller planters will be deployed to other locations in the town, in due course.
The worthy Brigg in Bloom initiative has again provided flower displays this summer - examples being seen here on, and near, the County Bridge.
Hanging baskets are also featuring outside many business premises, bringing further touches of colour to the town centre.
When the Town Council agreed to invest in the three-tier planters at its latest meeting, Coun Ann Eardley called for hanging baskets to be re-introduced on the frontage of the Angel building in the Market Place.
Hooks (previously used for this purpose) are still evident, and she kindly pointed them out to us following the session held in the Angel Suite Lounge.
