BRIGG TOWN CLERK WALKS THE THAMES PATH FOR CHARITY

The Clerk to Brigg Town Council decided to use her annual leave to not only set herself a personal challenge but also to raise money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Kerry McGrath set off on the 185.6-mile journey on foot just as the temperatures rocketed to the high 30s (Centigrade).
Setting off from a small Gloucestershire village, she walked every inch of the path, all the way to the Thames Barrier in London.
The changes to the river, from a small dusty, stony patch in a field in Kemble to where the river is huge and fast-flowing in London, were dramatic.
The path was really varied from riparian fields where Kerry used her negotiating skills with herds of cows to reach the next gate, to smooth paths adjoining multi-million pound Riverside properties.
"It was fascinating to see not only how the river changed in size but also how it was used for recreation and leisure to serious sporting activities to heavy industry," she told Brigg Blog.
Both the start and end of the path were pretty unremarkable; the start was a small pile of stones and a sign and the end was a mural next to the Thames Barrier, but the views in between were stunning.
To date Kerry has raised £530 for Lindsey Lodge Hospice via her Just Giving page but also any money raised from Brigg locals is being paid directly to the Brigg Town Mayor's Appeal Fund, which is also raising money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
If anyone woudl like to donate to the Brigg Town Mayor's Appeal Fund, please get in touch with Kerry, Clerk to Brigg TC, by email at enquiries@briggmarkettown.co.uk
We'll have to wait and see where the next challenge will take her!
