BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE IN BRIGG

Builders and development workers are busy at historic properties in Brigg and are also paving the way for new homes on a well-known site.
In the former category is the ex-HSBC bank in the Market Place where the ground floor has planning permission to be transformed into a licensed bar to be known as The Vault.

Land to the rear which will become the car park having been cleared some weeks ago, work is now proceeding inside this grade two listed building.
Meanwhile, a new access ramp/entrance is being created to the side of the town's original schoolroom which opened in 1680. Brigg's only grade one listed building, since 1976 this has formed part of the Sir John Nelthorpe Upper School.
Once completed, the new addition will improve access to the school for those with mobility issues.
A tall piling machine is at work on the former Falcon Cycles factory site, off Bridge Street, where more than 60 new homes are being created for well-known local firm Keigar.
An adjoining development on the edge of this site, but closer to the A18, will provide a block of new apartments in due course.
On a smaller scale, extensions are being added to a number of domestic properties across Brigg, with further additions in the pipeline, having received the required planning permission from North Lincolnshire Council.

Among these is the distinctive Cemetery Lodge, on Wrawby Road, built in the Victorian Gothic style.
