BRIGG TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB'S FIRST GAME FOR SIX MONTHS ANNOUNCED

Brigg Town Football Club's first match for SIX MONTHS has been announced through the ToolStation Northern Counties East League.restrictions
Government restrictions allow games to resume from the end of June, and on Saturday, July 3 the Zebras' first team will host Maltby Main in a pre-season friendly at the EC Surfacing Stadium (Hawthorns) kicking off at 3pm.
This Rotherham area club finished fifth in the Premier Division during the 2020/21 campaign, while Brigg managed sixth spot in Division One.
Town's last first team fixture was on Boxing Day (December 26, 2020) when they hosted Skegness.
Virus emergency lockdown then kicked in and the league and its member clubs, with FA approval, decided it was impossible to fit in the remaining fixtures once the restrictions were eventually lifted some months later.
So the league standings from early January became the final ones for 2020/21.
Other Brigg Town FC pre-season games in July are expected to be announced in due course.
The ToolStation NCEL has announced Saturday, July 31 as the provisional date for the start of its 2021/22 campaign.
Founded back in 1864, Brigg Town FC is unlikely to have gone sixth months without a fixture before - with the exception of periods during the two world wars, 1914-18 and 1939-45.
Our historic club - one of the oldest in the world - moved to its Hawthorn Avenue venue in 1960 from a ground behind the Brocklesby Ox pub, off Bridge Street.
