BRIGG BLOG LOCATES 'H' IN THE LINE OF DUTY

If the Line of Duty TV series detectives had chosen to investigate in Brigg, our town might have offered up some clues as to the whereabouts of the elusive 'H' - the criminal they were so keen to identify.
'H' is indicated on the side wall of Barnard Court, just a few yards from Brigg Police Station (pictured above) and at other locations in the town including St Helens Road (inset).
The often exasperated Supt Ted Hastings in the series resorts to using a strange phrase about Jesus' family and a 'Wee Donkey' whenever promising leads and inquiries hit yet another brick wall.
Many 'Wee Donkeys' could be found decades ago living in a paddock off Almond Grove, Brigg - a fact later incorporated into the name of a popular play area on the edge of the Newlands estate.

Some 'Donkey Derbys' in aid of worthy causes were also held on the Recreation Ground decades ago, and perhaps also at Brigg Town Football Club's Hawthorns.
"Now we're sucking diesel!" as Ted says when things are going well, which is not very often.
Yellow 'H' signs in Brigg, of course, indicate hydrants supplying water - of particular important to fire-fighters.
Many Brigg people watched Series 6 of Line of Duty and are hoping another will follow in due course.
The long-suffering Ted - an old-style 'copper' - has been earmarked for early retirement but has lodged an appeal.
