BRIGG PICNIC AREA WILL FIND PLENTY OF TAKERS

A relatively new free-to-use addition in Brigg is the furnished picnic area (pictured here) beside the tranquil Old River Ancholme - on the other bank to Glanford Boat Club.
Brigg Town Council installed the heavy duty circular tables with seating on an area of grass between the old Ancholme towpath (along which horses once pulled commercial barges) and the Ancholme Way footpath/cycle track provided some years ago by the North Lincolnshire authority.
With warmer late Spring and Summer weather ahead and some people still holding social distancing reservations about mingling with visitors to resorts and other places of interest far beyond the Brigg area, a picnic in town (without the need to book in advance) might be in order, particularly for families with young children.
Such morning, afternoon or early evening snacking sessions by the riverside won't break the bank, either!
The picnic area's seating is also meeting another role, we've observed, with people of more senior years stopping to take a rest while out walking along the adjoining footpaths.
Just a thought: If North Lincolnshire Council has any redundant metal shelters to hand, how about installing one near the picnic area to offer cover to picnic site users if heavy showers arrive? This shelter could also benefit walkers and cyclists.
