99 NEW HOMES PROPOSED FOR BRIGG BUT WILL THEY GET THE GREEN LIGHT?

Three schemes to build new homes in Brigg that were submitted last year are still awaiting decisions from council planners.

• Erect 67 dwellings with garages, former Falcon Cycles site, off Bridge Street ('valid date' for the application - August 22, 2017).
• Erect 3 dwellings to the rear of 53 Wrawby Street, adjoining Cross Street (June 29, 2017).
• Permission for residential development, Plot 3, Atherton Way (October 26, 2017).

Here are the dates on which the LAST information was  placed in the public domain in respect of each:
53 Wrawby Street: August 21, 2017.
Plot 3, Atherton Way: December 5, 2017.
Ex-Falcon Cycles site: March 29, 2018.
Although the proposal for Atherton Way is an outline one, and merely seeks permission for residential development, the application form that accompanies it suggests 29  homes.
North Lincolnshire Council is the authority with the power to grant or reject all local applications.
The current web-based planning portal system has its merits, notably when it comes to ensuring that documents from applicants, consultees and interested members of the public are placed in the public domain through http://www.planning.northlincs.gov.uk
However, where the system falls down is when it comes to informing the public why things are dragging on, month after month, with no decisions being taken on particular applications.
Brigg Blog would like to suggest that if no ruling has been made after six months, the council should post a report explaining why.
There should then be monthly updates until a decision is finally taken and made public.
