BRIGG HORSE FAIR 2018 REPORT AND 37 PICTURES

Brigg Horse Fair 2018 attracted a good turn-out of traders and spectators today - Saturday, August 4.
It was held on the established site near Station Road in perfect weather - warm but not too hot, with a touch of breeze.
Brigg Blog took these mid- and late-morning pictures showing some of the steeds being ridden bare-back - in the traditional gypsy/traveller fashion - and pulling buggies and traps.
Security staff and Humberside Police were in attendance, with metal barriers erected along Station Road to keep the public away from the horses being paraded at speed.
Refreshments were available, with horse brasses, trinkets and other items on sale.
A number of traditional wooden gypsy caravans were parked on the site, together with modern mobile homes brought to Brigg by traveller families from a very wide area in the run up to this historic event.
Brigg Horse Fair is generally held on August 5 but is brought forward a day whenever that the scheduled date falls on a Sunday, which was the case in 2018.
