RARE SIGHT IN THE SKIES OVER BRIGG BUT DEFINITELY NOT A U.F.O

It was disappointing that wind and rain meant an historic and iconic aeroplane did not visit the Brigg area as planned last Sunday (July 29, 2018).
Because of bad weather, the North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Festival at Hibaldstow airfield - with flypast by the Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - had to be postponed until the autumn, having been re-scheduled to Sunday, September 30.
However, the ever-alert Ken Harrison, of Brigg Matters Magazine, has pictorial proof that the Lancaster HAS been to our area this summer.
"Do you see anything significant in this non-descript photo (above) of part of Tesco's car park, taken about 3pm on Saturday, 7th July?" Ken asks.
"Nothing special, of course, apart from the Avro Lancaster making an unscheduled fly-over above Brigg."
Great interest is always generated when "The Lanc" visits our area.
But was Ken the only Brigg resident to spot it recently?
Fingers crossed for decent weather on September 30 so the bomber - based at RAF Coningsby - can pay our area another visit and we can not only enjoy seeing it but also listen to the distinctive sound of the engines.
