EXTENSIVE PREVIEW OF BRIGG ART EXHIBITION AND SALE 2018

FROM ROBERTA FULFORD, BRIGG LIVE ARTS

Brigg Live Arts is looking forward to hosting their 2018 Art Exhibition and Sale of Art in the Angel Suite, Brigg, over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The organisation has continued to offer a wide range of events during the year including music, plays, and films and in May it held their third Brigg Live Arts Fest when the town was brought alive with music, dancing and an extended craft market. The forthcoming exhibition is a prestigious event that gives local artists a chance to showcase and sell their work, and provide the people of the town with a chance to see quality art work. The exhibition has been pivotal in helping make Brigg Live Arts a well-known and popular organisation in Brigg and the surrounding area.
The exhibition starts with a Preview Evening on Friday 24th at 7pm. This year it will be opened by Hannah Dale who is the Artistic Director of Wrendale Designs which is based in Brigg. She will give a short opening speech and will also be announcing her choice of best picture in the show. There will be wine, soft drinks and nibbles as well as a raffle, all of which will provide a convivial atmosphere for visitors to view, admire and secure some excellent art for their homes. Entry is £5 payable on the door.
This 2018 exhibition has attracted over 120 pieces of work submitted by notable local artists as well as amateur painters, photographers and sculptors. Joey Richardson, who teaches and exhibits globally, will be displaying some of her exquisite wood turning pieces as well as some prints she has created using new techniques whilst studying for an MA in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln. Her support for the exhibition has attracted entries by other students on the course, including work by Darren Neave. Darren has also exhibited internationally when he became well known for his work with ‘Little Artists’, the original lego artists. Visitors will also be able to see paintings produced by Sarah Webb who has a unique, expressive style and has exhibited nationally. The range of work on display this year will be sure to attract a lot of attention in the Angel Ballroom.
This year’s exhibition has also attracted submissions by artists from the numerous art groups in North Lincolnshire and there will be an opportunity at the exhibition to find out more about these groups. The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm on the 25th, 26th and 27th of August and refreshments will be available each day. Entry is £1 with free re-admission any day.
In partnership with the exhibition The Rabbit Hole, the independent bookshop at 1 Market Place, Brigg, will be open over the weekend, featuring a range of new and pre-loved books of particular interest to artists.  This is in addition to their wide collection of books for adults and children of all ages.  The Rabbit Hole will be open on Saturday 25th from 9.30am to 5pm and on the Sunday and Monday from 11am to 3pm.
So make this one of your “must do activities” for the August Bank Holiday. Brigg Live Arts know you will enjoy your visit and you might acquire something that takes pride of place in your home and is treasured for a long time to come!
