Bright sunshine helped encourage shoppers to visit Brigg town centre on Saturday (December 5) our 'non-essential' businesses having reopened as part of the Tier 3 Coronavirus emergency regulations.
They are hoping to pick up some pre-Christmas trade as people stock up for the festive season and seek presents for friends and family members,
The specially arranged Brigg Indie Market we previewed was an added atttraction, its stalls operating near those forming North Lincolnshire Council's general Saturday market.
Hopefully, these Indie Markets will become established weekend features.
The monthly farmers' market is always a major draw, but Brigg would benefit from having something extra to offer on the other three Saturdays.
This will be a matter for the stall-holders and the organisers to consider.
Just an observation from Saturday morning...
Do people (mostly without masks) have to congregate in groups to chat in the middle of Wrawby Street? In order to observe social distancing, others then have to make a detour or just stay on course and walk close to those who are deep in conversation.
In contrast yesterday morning, people were waiting patiently on the pavement to gain admission to some of the retail premises observing the restrictions on how many shoppers can be inside at the same time.
Don't forget that many Brigg shops intend to stay open late (until 7pm) this Thursday (December 10) for the benefit of gift buyers. Hopefully the weather will be kinder than it was when this initiative launched last Thursday evening.
