BRIGG COUNCIL HAS ITS SAY ON PROPOSED PROPERTY EXTENSIONS

Plans put forward to extend a well-known Brigg building which overlooks the A18 have now been considered by the Town Council, as the first stage in the planning process.
Permission is being sought to erect a two-storey extension to the front, extensions to the rear elevation and associated external alterations at Cemetery Lodge, 30 Wrawby Road.
Brigg Town Council's Planning & Environment Committee considered the application at its latest meeting. and it was decided to object "on the grounds that the materials proposed are not in keeping with the current building."
Those views have been passed on to North Lincolnshire Council which will decide this application in due course.
A design statement accompanying the plans says the proposed extensions will be different to the existing property's architectural style.
"This is intentional and, in my opinion, will add additional character to the property and not detract from it," the applicant says.
"I feel that the timber-clad extensions will offer a contrasting style between the new and old and create a stylish, aesthetically pleasing look.
"Since being built in the mid-1850s, this building has changed in both appearance and function and I feel strongly that the extensions will allow the building to evolve further, so that in its next 150 years its function as a family home is reflected and its build history is clear."
During its latest planning committee meeting Brigg Town Council raised no objection to an application seeking approval to erect a single-storey rear extension and single-storey side garage extension at 73 Churchill Avenue. The final decision will be made by North Lincolnshire planners at some point.
