ROADWORKS OFFER A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FOR BRIGG SHOP'S CHRISTMAS DISPLAY

The Brigg Town Business Partnership, to which many local shops belong, is pressing ahead with events for Christmas 2020 by offering "some socially distanced festivities" during the Coronavirus emergency.
The well-established annual Christmas Window Competition sees BTBP members competing to be recognised as having the best in the town.
"Have a walk around and admire some of this year's fantastically creative displays and find your favourite," the partnership suggests to townsfolk and visitors.

Brigg Blog is not declaring any personal favourites but took these pictures over the weekend to give a flavour of what's been achieved by various businesses, including Brians DIY (close-up of one window seen above), Parkers Carpets, Althams Travel, Oxfam Bookshop and The Water Room.
Also featured here is the Joanna Leigh Couture window display (pictured at the top of this post) which can be glimpsed by hundreds of passing motorists on Wrawby Road, the A18.
They include drivers queuing outside Health Place while the temporary traffic lights nearby are at red because of Anglian Water's improvement project, scheduled to continue into next week.

In addition, the Black Bull proprietors have installed Christmas decorations at their Wrawby Street pub - despite the fact that current Covid-19 restrictions mean the hostelry's doors must remain closed to customers at present.
Other events from the Business Partnership include:
ELF TRAIL: Children in the town can hunt for the elf’s name and possibly win a prize. The trail is free to enter and information is available from info@briggforbusiness.co.uk or The Brigg for Business, Events and Community Facebook page.
POSADA: This will travel though Brigg, stopping off in various shop windows ahead of Christmas. It commemorates the journey Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. The Brigg Posada is now in its fifth year and brings business owners and local churches together "to mark the tradition of Advent."
THURSDAY LATE NIGHT SHOPPING: Various businesses will be open late until 7pm to allow more time for people to get last-minute presents in a safe and relaxed way. "There may even be a visit from Santa himself on an unusual form of transport," says the BTBP. The up-to-date list of shops staying open specially can be found on the group's Facebook page. There are more than 20 of them at the moment. Late night shopping is coming up on December 10 and 17 - initial late opening taking place on December 3.
