DRIVERS IN BRIGG AREA GIVEN EIGHT MORE REASONS TO BUY ELECTRIC

Here's some wonder-fuel news for environmentally friendly drivers in the Brigg area... North Lincolnshire Council has given the GREEN light to the installation of eight electric vehicle (EV) charging points at Barnetby Service Station, adjoining the roads interchange within Elsham parish.
These bays, located in an enclosure off the forecourt, are being given a canopy - offering shelter from the worst of the British weather. Approval has been given to Hertfordshire-based Motor Fuel Group Ltd.
A council assessment report said the site comprised the petrol filling station and the recently built Starbucks Coffee Shop - adjacent to the M180/A15 junction.
"The proposal brings EV charging to the existing Petrol Filling Station and therefore has inherent benefits in carbon reduction through the increased viability/use of EV as a mode of transport," the report noted.
North Lincolnshire Council itself led the way in 2016 with a couple of charging points in the rear car park behind Brigg's Angel building, while Tesco recently installed a short row of EV chargers in the car park of its Barnard Avenue store for customers to use while shopping.
The council has provided some electric-powered vans for employees to use in the course of their duties.
Vehicles powered by electricity are seen by government - national and local - as the way forward, and many members of the public are now thinking about buying such models, or cars that can run on fossil fuel (petrol/diesel) and electricity.
The demand will keep rising in years to come as technological advances allow electric-powered vehicles to travel longer distances between charges - coupled with a huge rise in the number of charging points available to them at conventional filling stations, retail parks, supermarkets, public car parks and other outlets.
