OVERSPILL BRIGG CAR PARKING COULD HELP ON FARMERS' MARKET SATURDAY

Fine, sunny and warm weather helped draw big crowds of shoppers to Brigg today for the monthly farmers' market and accompanying general market in the town centre.
Parking spaces were in great demand and by mid-morning some drivers were having to circle the Old Courts Road car park, in search of a rare gap in which to squeeze their car.
Yet in Station Road there are many car parking spaces available, close to the Hewson House council offices. Could this area be made an overspill Saturday car park?
We suggest some  temporary signs might be tried for October's farmers' market.
They could direct  drivers to the Monument roundabout and then down Bigby Road to Station Road.
With many farmers' market  visitors driving  into town along Bigby High Road, a sign could direct them along Albert Street to Station Road. This would help reduce queueing traffic on Bigby Road, close to the Monument.
The walk from Hewson House to the Market Place is not a long one. Having parked up, drivers would be able to stroll down Bigby Street to reach the stalls, or use Queen Street or Cross Street to reach Wrawby Street and then the Market Place.
This increased footfall would benefit businesses at the eastern end of the town centre, which does not have market day stalls.
