VIEW PICTURES OF STRIKING NEW STEEL ARCHES PLANNED FOR BRIGG TOWN CENTRE'S SHOPPING COURTYARDS

Eleven steel arches are planned in Brigg town centre to highlight various courtyards off pedestrianised Wrawby Street and their range of niche shops.
They will help direct shoppers and tourists to and from the main Old Courts Road car park.
This project has taken four years to get from drawing board to the planning application stage, but that has now been achieved.
A period of public consultation is under way, following which North Lincolnshire Council will decide whether to give the go ahead to the new archways.
Consulted as part of the planning process, Brigg Town Council is "in support" of the application.
Broughton-based Ivy Designs Ltd has produced illustrations (reproduced here, with kind permission) which accompany the planning application.
Advertisement consent is being sought for "overhead street name signage on poles." They will be manufactured from mild steel, coated in a back paint finish.
There will be two signs highlighting Coney Court - one being close to Cary Lane's bus stop, used by many shoppers coming to the town centre.
Further arches will illustrate College Yard, Cressey Yard, School Court, Morley (or Morley's) Yard and Chapel Court.
Different emblems have been included next to the lettering on all but one of the signs, to indicate historic links.
Coney Court's has rabbits - a reference to fur workshops that were once such a feature of this yard.
Take a close look at the others. Can you work out the historic significance of the courtyard emblems?
This project was first mentioned in July 2015 when Brigg Town Business Partnership showed pictures and a video to guests attending an event in the upstairs function room at The Buttercross.

Someone needs to standardise the spelling of Morley Yard...
