The Lord Nelson Hotel in Brigg town centre will be receiving an award from the Town Council later this week to mark the impressive refurbishment of the grade two listed building within the conservation area.
The picture above reminds us how it looked in the early 1990s. The portion of the Nelson seen here had been added during the previous decade, utilising the neighbouring building whose ground floor shop was once occupied by Binns - a renowned name in UK retailing.
When this picture was taken the old Corn Exchange, in the distance, did not have long to go before demolition.
The brick building near its entrance was the Angel Hotel ballroom, subsequently converted to provide the Angel Suite community venue, managed by Brigg Town Council.
Below is a full view of the Lord Nelson frontage as it looks today.
There will be a distinctive blue plaque to display on the building to inform passers-by of the accolade.
The hostelry - offering food, drink and accommodation - is operated by the Old Mill Brewery, Snaith.
The Lord Nelson's award will be presented on Saturday (March 30) at the annual Brigg Civic Dinner in the Angel Suite. A refurbished row of shops on Wrawby Street (pictured below) will also receive an award at the same time for the way in which these properties have been renovated.

It would be very useful if Brigg Town Council publish a comprehensive list of all Civic Award holders by year...
...and your first pic shows the entrance door to the Corn Exchange down Exchange Alley.
