Former Brigg councillor Dr Pat Frankish has played a key role in drawing up a blueprint for future development in our neighbouring town, historic Kirton Lindsey.
Revealing details, North Lincolnshire Council talks of the "Green light for Kirton in Lindsey's Neighbourhood Plan."
That railway-related term set Brigg Blog thinking about public transport. Brigg and Kirton both have railway stations on the iconic Brigg line, with a Saturdays-only passenger service that many Brigg people would like to see extended with additional trains running on other days of the week.
Perhaps Dr Pat and her Kirton colleagues could take that on board!

Green light for Kirton in Lindsey’s Neighbourhood Plan

The Neighbourhood Plan for developing Kirton in Lindsey over the next 10 to 15 years has been given the go ahead by North Lincolnshire Council.
Kirton in Lindsey Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group submitted an application to the council to have their specified area officially designated as a ‘Neighbourhood Area’.
After a six week consultation in which local residents had their say on the application, the council has formally approved it.
The Steering Group can now progress with the Neighbourhood Plan that could include setting out where new homes are built or which areas of open space are protected or enhanced, or what local facilities are needed in the future.
Kirton in Lindsey now joins nine other Neighbourhood Areas across North Lincolnshire.
Following the designation of the Neighbourhood Area, work can progress on putting together the Neighbourhood Plan for Kirton in Lindsey. As the plan emerges there will be several opportunities for local people to have their say and provide input.
Cllr Neil Poole, cabinet member for commercial, said: “It is brilliant to see yet another community taking advantage of the opportunities a Neighbourhood Plan presents. The designation of Kirton in Lindsey as a Neighbourhood Area means they can now progress with developing the Neighbourhood Plan. This will enable the Steering Group to set out how the area will be shaped in the future.

Dr Pat Frankish, chair of the Kirton in Lindsey Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, said: “We’re a new group that has come together to look at our town and how we would like it to look in the future. We’re going to have drop-in sessions and do a full survey of the views of people in Kirton in Lindsey. The first one is on 28 March from 1pm to 8pm at Kirton Town Hall. We hope to see lots of people there. Come and have your say about how Kirton develops over the next 20 years.”
