BRIGG HOCKEY LADIES SECURE FINE WIN AT THE REC
The Brigg Ladies' hockey first teamers turned in a fine performance at the Recreation Ground to defeat Yorkshire side Adel 2nds 1-0 on Saturday, March 2.
This was an early afternoon game played on the 'Blue Astro' floodlit pitch, though bright sunshine and the start time meant there was no need for artificial illumination.
Brigg's goal was a very well-taken, individual effort late in the game. That's the time to score!
Unlike the days when Brigg Rec's hockey facilities were rudimentary, the club now has top-class changing rooms to complement the new pitch.
We were pleased to see hockey players using the community room immediately after the game.
It offers an opportunity to provide refreshments, as well as giving the players somewhere to sit and discuss the game after the full-time whistle has sounded.
A men's match was just about to start as Brigg Blog left the ground to attend to other matters in hand.
We hope to get to a men's match before the end of the season to take some pictures and hopefully meet some old mates from our playing days.
Some of them are still swinging a stick!
Our action pictures show Brigg v Adel 2nds, with the local side in their traditional emerald green kit.
