MY TRAIN JOURNEY TO BRIGG

A Sheffield to Cleethorpes Saturday passenger train at Brigg railway station - picture on Nigel Fisher's Brigg Blog

A new website has been promoted on Twitter.
You enter a train service and two destinations and then ask for a yearly report, and the system will tell you if your train arrived on time during that 12-month period.
I've done the 0803 Sheffield to Cleethorpes and done it from Gainsborough Central to Brigg.
It's told me that, in the last year, only 13% of trains arrived at Brigg on time.

WEEKLY BRIGG LINE UPDATE FROM PAUL JOHNSON

It was the Cleethorpes Carnival on Saturday 16th July.
Word had got around as a group of 12 ladies had booked from Sheffield Midland to Cleethorpes on the 0803 Cleethorpes via Brigg service. One   was in a wheelchair and soon realised that the Northern railbus does not have a disabled toilet.
They commented to the Northern Link 1 guard that whilst the fare was reasonable, in future they would take the TPE train. It is of note that a request was put into Northern in September 2015 to request a more family friendly unit to work the 0803 service from Easter 2016.
Passenger numbers boarding to travel on the Brigg Line on the 0803 Sheffield to Cleethorpes service were as follows:

  • Sheffield Midland 17
  • Woodhouse 4
  • Kiverton Bridge 2
  • Kiveton Park 2
  • Shireoaks 1
  • Worksop 32
  • Retford 11
  • Gainsborough Central 16
  • Kirton In Lindsey 14
  • Brigg 12.

Leaving Brigg the train was full, which was picked up by Nigel Fisher and his Brigg Blog who asked: Is Brigg Doing enough to attract people by train?
It has been noted that since the removal of the Duo Ticket (2 Adults travel together 2nd goes half price), families travelling on the train have plummeted.
But thanks to the hardwork of GRaB and a number of leaflet drops in Brigg and Kirton In Lindsey, numbers are steady improving with senior citizens replacing families with up to 50% off a rail ticket with a valid bus pass.
Saturday was no exception with excellent numbers travelling on the unique timetabled services.
