FROM CHRIS O'ROURKE, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL

Do you love cycling for fun? Are you passionate about encouraging others to get on their bikes and go ride? We’re looking for you!
We’re looking for confident, recreational cyclists to train as British Cycling Ride Leaders. You don’t need to be a cycling expert or competitive racer, just be confident riding in a group and have a good level of cycling fitness.
We welcome all kinds of cyclists; as long as you have heaps of enthusiasm and you’re happy to support beginner riders and families you can apply for a place on the training.
The assessed one-day course to become a Ride Leader qualifies you to deliver guided rides for groups of beginner and intermediate level adults and accompanied children on roads and cycle paths.
The Ride Leaders level 1 course – paid for by North Lincolnshire Council – will be held in Scunthorpe in early September 2016. Once qualified, you will receive free British Cycling membership in return for you leading rides in North Lincolnshire in line with British Cycling’s policies and procedures.
Coun Carl Sherwood, from Brigg (pictured), Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Cycling is a brilliant form of exercise and a great way to explore your local area. This is a fantastic opportunity for people who are passionate about cycling to pass on their enthusiasm by becoming Ride Leaders.”
If you’re interested in becoming a Ride Leader and putting on your own rides across North Lincolnshire, you can contact Lindsay Heathfield for an expression of interest form: email lindsay.heathfield@northlincs.gov.uk or call 07717588193.

All trains to/from Brigg have a separate section on the units to carry bikes, promotion of using the train then riding back to Brigg could be an option.
