Brigg Blog registered a couple of weeks ago but it was only yesterday (Monday) that we climbed aboard for the first time.
The main differences between Call Connect and a traditional bus service are there's no fixed timetable and you can get picked up and dropped off at non-designated bus stops, if that's your wish.
Call Connect collected us at the arranged time and location - the Woodbine Avenue/Central Square public telephone box - and took us to Barnetby railway station via Bigby High Road and Bigby.
We then caught a mid-morning TransPennine Express train to Cleethorpes to watch the second day of the three-day Minor Counties cricket match between Lincolnshire and Suffolk.
Following the train trip back to Barnetby station in the evening, Call Connect was already waiting to bring us back to Brigg.
Due to transport issues in the railway village, the bus went up Church Hill, then took a left through Melton Ross to join up with the A18 and head back towards Brigg, but encountered a lengthly backlog of traffic resulting from the roundabout construction roadworks at Barnetby Top.
With the assistance of Call Connect, we had a great day at the cricket, with hot and sunny weather throughout.
Among other spectators on day two of the county game was Garry "Gig" Smith, in many eyes the greatest all-rounder ever to play for Brigg Town Cricket Club.
He retired from playing, aged 60, in 2000 but still keeps a close eye on the local weekend sporting scene, watching football and cricket at various grounds.
In case you were wondering, a single fare from Brigg to Barnetby with Call Connect is £2.30p.

Once the formalities are out of the way they will send you a registration card in the post and a voucher to enjoy a complimentary return journey.
