BRIGG'S CURRENT TRAIN OF THOUGHT IS... NOISE

Noise is a talking point in Brigg at the moment.
We hear that some people are still wondering why so many freight trains are currently rumbling through - day and night.
These will continue to be diverted along the usually quiet Brigg line for some days to come because of a landslip affecting their normal route through Scunthorpe.
Mid-afternoon yesterday (Wednesday) saw another unusual midweek sight in Brigg - a passenger train (pictured above).
In normal times our station only receives a Saturday passenger service, but this was suspended weeks ago.
However, yesterday's unit - on its way to North East Lincolnshire - was not in public service and failed to stop at Brigg station.
Brigg's last timetabled midweek passenger train service was withdrawn way back in the early 1990s.
Things should now be more peaceful on Bigby Road where a loose manhole cover on the busy A1084 was replaced on Tuesday. It will no longer emit noise when caught by the tyres of passing vehicles.
