BRIGG SERVICES NOW BEING ENJOYED THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY
People thousands of miles from Brigg are now enjoying local services.
Living in the Far East, Canada and elsewhere abroad, they are joining church services from our town by using the impressive ZOOM facility on the internet.
Occupying pews in church buildings was ruled out weeks ago by Coronavirus emergency measures, but communal worship has continued in Brigg using the worldwide web.
It is also possible to join these services by using telephones with keypads.
Brigg Blog has been publicising the virtual services week by week and explaining how easy it is to take part.
Malcolm Bailey, who is involved with the organisation, tells us these services are proving popular.
He explains that many of the overseas participants are family members or friends of local people who have spread the word far and wide.
Another service is coming up tomorrow - Sunday, June 7 - led by the Venerable Andrew Ballard, pictured here.
It will start at 10.30am but with the usual option to join early, any time after 9.45am, to say hello to others.
"As always, please feel free to invite family, neighbours - or phone a friend to give them the details," says Malcolm.
For Sunday worship by phone, here’s what’s needed...
Dial any ONE of these four numbers: 0131 460 1196, 0203 051 2874, 0203 481 5237, 0203 481 5240.
A message will say that you have connected with ZOOM and ask you to put in the meeting code - also used by those taking part online.
Enter the Meeting ID for Sunday worship 978 8891 8428 by tapping it in on your telephone keypad, followed by the hash key.
It will then ask for your own ID. Simply press the hash key again. And then you’re in!
Others will see a picture of a phone when you join in this way and your telephone number will be displayed in small print, Malcolm explains.
