FOOTBALL TEAMS FROM BRIGG & BARNETBY DEFEATED

There were defeats for Brigg and Barnetby teams in the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League first division on Saturday (April 6).
Second-from-bottom Briggensians lost 4-2 at home to Scotter United, with Sol Hari scoring both the Brigg side's goals.
Barnetby United went down 4-2 away to Scunthorpe side College Wanderers (report below and accompanying action pictures from Lee Fielden).
In division two, second-in-the-table Barnetby United Reserves were unable to raise a team to visit New Holland Villa.

College give lesson in finishing

Barnetby’s mini revival came to a halt at The Co-op ground on Saturday when old habits returned to see them go down 4-2.
A frantic opening 12 minutes saw 3 goals as Barnetby took advantage of College’s stiff legs following their Hospital Cup win on Thursday.
Makeshift striker Sam Thirkell smashed home from outside the box following neat play by Clark and Hunsley on 4 minutes but within minutes College were level following a smart finish by Hibbard.
Barnetby bounced back immediately and again Clark found Hunsley whose far post cross was turned in by Andy Bradley for his 3rd of the season.
Hunsley had a glorious chance to make it 3-1 but blazed his effort over the bar and Hunt kept the College back line on its toes.
With 63 minutes on the clock Barnetby lead 2-1, after 64 minutes they trailed 3-2. Joss Langton brought his side level before Mark McCrea curl an effort low into the bottom corner.
After persistent work from Hunt, Hunsley had the chance to level the game but his effort rolled agonisingly wide.
Joss Langton’s 2nd sealed the game for College before a late Andy Plumtree goal was ruled out for offside following an exquisite finish.
