BRIGG PUMP BLESSING 2019 - FULL DETAILS ANNOUNCED

Brigg Town Business Partnership will again be hosting the popular Pump Blessing which this year takes place on Saturday May 18 between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
Two teams of Morris Dancers – the local Tatterfoals and the popular Beverley Garland Dancers - will be dancing around Brigg from 10.30am onwards.
At 11.40am, the grand parade led by the newly elected Town Mayor of Brigg, accompanied by Curate The Rev. Trudy Hobson, will start from Boots the Chemists.

They will be joined by the local Rainbows and Brownies and will parade down to the first water pump across from The White Hart, adjacent to the bridge. There, the pump will be blessed by Trudy in addition to flowers being presented to it and a dance in order of celebrating the pump.
The parade will then travel along Wrawby Street to the second pump alongside The White Horse where the blessing of the pump, presentation of flowers and a celebratory dance will be repeated.

The two teams will then parade away to dance around Brigg with the celebrations ending in the Market Place at 1.30pm when the two teams join together for one last dance encouraging the local community to join in with them.
Both pumps together with the Bandstand in the Market Place will have been ‘dressed’ by the Mechanical Engineers in an elaborate yet sympathetic design.

The Partnership is grateful to Tesco for providing the flowers; Wetherspoon’s The White Horse and Dent’s Local NISA shop for sponsoring the event so generously.
