BRIGGENSIANS BEATEN & HIBALDSTOW RESIGN FROM FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Briggensians lost 2-1 on their visit to College Wanderers in the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League yesterday (Saturday, January 5).
Jamie Craigie scored for the Brigg team, with Tom Dent and Mark McCrea netting for the second-placed side.
Elsewhere in division one, Barnetby United won 6-3 at bottom-placed Crosby Colts, with Steven Glentworth, Jack Blendell and Ben Hunt scoring two apiece.
Barnetby are now fourth in the table, with Briggensians second from bottom, having won one and lost six.
There's sad news from division two, Hibaldstow Wanderers' resignation being announced by the league. Wanderers had only joined the competition in September.
Yesterday the villagers were due to have visited unbeaten division two leaders Barnetby United Reserves but the game did not take place.
The league said Hibaldstow had cited "lack of interest from their players."
The team won three and lost seven league fixtures prior to their resignation, putting them third from bottom in the table.
This Saturday (January 12) there's a good game in prospect at Barnetby's Silver Street ground, where United host division one leaders Limestone Rangers (2pm KO). Briggensians will be away to The Butchers Arms.
Top plays bottom in division two, with Barnetby United Reserves visiting Santon who have lost all 10 league fixtures so far.
