THE BELL TOLLS FOR BRIGG TOWN CRICKETERS DESPITE MATTHEW'S HALF-CENTURY

Brigg Town Cricket Club batsman Matthew Bell

Heavy rain halted Brigg Town Cricket Club's bid to make the semi-finals of the Lincolnshire County Cricket League's Supplementary Cup on Saturday (June 15).
Brigg needed to win their last qualifying group game at Haxey 2nds to have a chance of making the knockout stage of this popular competition.
Town were going well on 87 for two, with the best part of 10 overs still to be bowled in their innings, when play had to be abandoned.
Matthew Bell, pictured above, was unbeaten on 54, while opener Danny Bradley was 21 not out as the players left the field.
In accordance with the rules, a bowl-out at the stumps then followed which Haxey won 2-1, with Jack Richards being the only Brigg bowler to rattle the timbers.
So Haxey go through to the semi-finals, to be played on Sunday, June 30.
Broughton 2nds have also  qualified following Saturday's five-wicket home win over Cleethorpes 4ths.
Kavithessh 'Kav' Karunanantharajah was Broughton's star bowler with five for 22 in his permitted six overs, while Sam Benson top scored with the bat, hitting 46 as Broughton reached their 112-run target with 12 overs in hand.
Hibaldstow, who occupy second spot in Division Two, enjoyed an emphatic nine-wicket victory at Caistor 2nds on Saturday.
Tom and Joe Taylor both took five wickets for Hibaldstow as they bowled out their hosts at the Brigg Road ground for only 46.
Opener Josh Cowling then scored 32 as Hibaldstow took only 6.1 overs to secure the full 20 points available and keep up their push for promotion.
In Division One, Broughton first teamers' scheduled game at Louth 2nds failed to take place because of wet conditions.
