NEW BRIGG HOMES & EXTENSIONS APPROVED

New homes, property extensions and office usage in Brigg have been approved by North Lincolnshire Council.
Councillor planners have accepted a modified application from Higgins Builders Ltd for new dwellings on land off Almond Grove, near the allotments.
A report prepared by council staff said: "The current proposal seeks permission to revise the appearance of the five dwellings.
"Their positions within the plot and overall scale and design remain the same, the difference is that the windows and doors have been given a more contemporary appearance, and some of the more decorative porch/canopies have been removed to create a less cluttered style.
"The access remains the same and parking and turning facilities are unaltered from that of the previously approved scheme. The revised details are considered to be acceptable in this location, where there is a mix of older style houses, where no particular architectural style or character is particularly prevalent."
The report said Brigg Town Council supported the application "but would seek reassurance that there is sufficient mitigation of flood risk."
North Lincolnshire Council has also granted permission to convert a garage, erect a first floor side extension and make internal alterations at 12 St James Road.
It has approved a single-storey rear extension at 14 Springfield Rise and has granted permission to retain use of The Cedars, Bigby Road, as offices.
The Cedars is a distinctive three-storey building near the Monument roundabout.
In the past it has been used as a clinic and doctors' surgery.
A report by council planning staff said: "The site has sufficient dedicated off-street parking to the east and the building has been vacant for a number of years, and the office use now established within the building has brought it into active use and for a use which is compatible within a residential area."
Brigg Town Council supported this application.

Approval has also been granted to erect a single-storey side and rear extension at 24 Meadow Vale, Scawby.
West Lindsey District Council has refused an application to erect a single-storey dwelling, with parking, on land at Salisbury, Main Street, Grasby.
Planners felt this would represent an over development of the site, harming the residential amenity of neighbouring  dwellings and  creating a dominant feature not in keeping with the character of the  surroundings.
