ATTENTION ALL BRIGG YOUNGSTERS INTERESTED IN APPRENTICESHIPS
Youngsters living in the Brigg area who are looking for apprenticeships take careful note.
There's a North Lincolnshire Council event coming up that might well interest you and your parents.
If mum and dad haven't got transport available, you can get a Hornsbys No 4 bus from Brigg, Scawby Brook and Broughton which will get you to within a few yards (sorry, metres) of the venue and then back home again. Or use the X4 direct bus to Scunthorpe (not going via Broughton).
It’s National Apprenticeship Week 4 to 8 March 2019
FROM KIRSTY WESTFIELD, NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
National Apprenticeship Week aims to highlight the huge number of high quality apprenticeship opportunities available at all levels around the country, in a wide variety of sectors and types of work.
North Lincolnshire Council has organised a range of events throughout the week.
One key event, where you can find out all you want or need to know about apprenticeships, is on Tuesday 5 March at Scunthorpe Central (previously central library), Carlton Street, Scunthorpe, from 11am to 3pm.
Do you have any questions you want answering, want to know more about what is on offer, are you unsure on how they work or want to know the range of opportunities? All you need do is to turn up at one of the North Lincolnshire Council events across the area during the course of the week.
There are so many different apprenticeships at various levels it is hard to know or find out everything you need to know. Go along to Scunthorpe Central on Tuesday 5 March between 11am and 3pm where you will be able to talk to people who are directly involved with apprenticeships. You can find out more about the council and what it is like to be an apprentice, speak to the training providers who work with both the employer and the apprentice: all of whom can share their experience with you.
The council’s Apprentice Programme Coordinator will be on hand to answer any questions about being an apprentice for the council, talk about truths vs myths around apprenticeships and being an apprentice. They will also tell you about the upcoming exciting opportunities within the council and the North Lincolnshire area.
To find out more about this and the other events taking place during National Apprenticeship Week, contact Learning Solutions on 01724 296311 or email learning.solutions@northlincs.gov.uk
Cllr John Davison, cabinet member for Business Transformation, said: “Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to learn practical skills on the job combined with education, which means you can earn while you learn.
“We have supported hundreds of apprentices in a wide range of roles to develop and start their career. Many of them have moved up the career ladder within the council.
“If you are unsure on whether further education or a job is the right way for you, why not come along to the event and find out more details?”
N.F. adds: The Scunthorpe Central Library is just a short walk from the steel town's bus station.
