WITNESSES WHO SAW 'MINDLESS VANDALISM' IN BRIGG URGED TO CONTACT POLICE

Former Brigg Town Mayor Coun Sharon Riggall has issued a statement through Facebook on behalf of  Brigg in Bloom,  following the weekend vandalism of flower tubs and arrangements within the town centre.
Litter bins were also tipped over and the contents scattered.
The group's chairman said: "It has been an extremely disappointing time for all our members and supporters of Brigg in Bloom due to the mindless vandalism of their hard work."
She thanked supporters "at this sad time" for their support, kindness and help.
Coun Riggall said North Lincolnshire councillors from Brigg met the police and Safer Neighbourhoods staff yesterday (Monday), and indicated that CCTV footage would be checked.
She ended the message by encouraging  everyone who may have witnessed these incidents,  or who have further information about them, to contact the police by calling 101.
Brigg Blog notes that volunteer members of the public, councillors and staff  cleared up after the vandalism, with some flower tubs, previously fixed to railings, being recovered from the River Ancholme. Brigg Town Council's new handyman service also assisted.
