Dawn Adams Da Costa, winner of the 2017 Services to School Governance Award, said: “I was born in North Lincolnshire and I think it’s a fabulous place to be and to live. To be able to do this publicly and celebrate what people are doing I just think is fabulous.”
Winners receive a trophy and certificate, and runners-up receive a certificate.
Since the council’s Community Champion Awards started nearly seven years ago over 130 awards have been given out.
Cllr John Briggs, pictured above, the Mayor of North Lincolnshire, said: “The Community Champion Awards are about the people and the community and recognising their wonderful achievements and selfless acts. These are the people that truly make a difference.
“Over the years we have received hundreds of nominations, but I know there are still lots of people out there that deserve a Community Champion Award so please nominate them.
“The deadline for nominations is 30 September; make sure you get your nominations in before then.”
